2011 Christmas Card

I just finished our 2011 Christmas card, WHOO HOO! I've been pretty neglectful about sending out Christmas cards since I went back to work, and I am determined to get them out this year.

My goal today was to sit down and put together our Christmas card. My Creative Memories sbcStudio software for the Mac is STILL not working, and I decided that I am finished waiting for them to fix the stoooooooopid program. I bit the bullet and downloaded the newest version of Photoshop Elements, went through some tutorials, and bumbled around to come up with this card. It's pretty simple, but my PSE skills are limited, so I'm good with it.

I would love some tips about how to organize and access paper and embellishments from those of you who are PSE pros. School me, please.

I never got around to getting our family portraits taken (because I'm fat), so I went with pictures from this year. Of course our cruise portrait made it in there, and the highlight of the girls' year, Horse Camp. You know my Christmas letter is going to mention Stinkerbell's mule. I cannot wait for that.

How about you? Are you doing a photo Christmas card this year?

  1. Nice Christmas Card!! I couldn't have 'bumbled' it better!

As for Christmas Cards from our family.... ummm... that would be a big, fat NO!.... Considering the ones that King Turd did last year didn't go out until January of THIS year... because I got so bonky & procrastinated & then forgot.

I do enjoy getting them though! Shall I just print yours out & hang it up since I'm sure you've misplaced my address?... Lol

  2. Jill, it looks great! I love it! I never would have been able to do that and that's with reading the tutorials!

You should get the family portrait done. If you think you are "fat", then wear black or have it posed to your liking. The years go by fast and you don't want to regret not getting it done. I love the way many of the photographers set them up now. Not in the studio but outside and with some beautiful scenery in the background. I wish they'd done that when we had ours done, lo these many years ago! You can do it! : )

  3. i love your card! i almost didn't do cards this year because it's so hard to get the kids AND the dog together looking any kind of decent. i was able to pull one off- not a photo i love, but it works!

  4. I don't think you've ever once said your husband's name other than Peanuthead, and I was beginning to think that really was his name. :) And no, no christmas card for me, (no christmas anything. :( ) glad your card turned out well.

  5. Lovely card! We ALWAYS use our cruise pictures because 1) we are usually very happy and 2) they tend to get a flattering portrait. But this year, I looked hideous with a puffy face (thank you thyroid) and I just threw a snapshot of the 4 of us at Disney and a bunch of shots of the girls. Good enough. I can not for the life of me figure out how to make a card in photoshop. I have read the tutorials. I have no idea what the heck they are talking about.

I love your card and thank you all look great!

  6. I love your card.

I totally understand your reason for not doing a family photo session. I've had a sign on our fridge for 3 1/2 years that says, "Family Portrait-May 2008." Obviously it hasn't done its motivational magic yet!

  8. I'm DONE with the CM Mac software as well. I had downloaded that PSE Jessica Sprague tutorial over 2 years ago. Now I have to go back and learn it. That's my goal for summer 2012! Love the card! :-)
