You Stress Me Out

Yes, I'm talking to you. I love you and all, my peeps that come here and read my yackitty yack and never leave me hate mail. I so dislike hate mail.

You stress me out because, HELLO?, I just spent 15 minutes whining about how big of a train wreck I am because of my inability to work and keep my house running smoothly at the same time, and y'all go and tell me I need to make this or that and sell it on Etsy. Well, I can't do that because of my Jobsy, so you're just going to have to settle for a giveaway now and then.

But first, I would like to whine some more. It's my turn, and since you're here already . . .

You comfy? Good. So, I'm freaking out over here because I came up with this brilliant idea that I was going to do the yearbook for our school this year. The yearbook that, guess what, has to be done and to the printer before the end of March.

And still do my Jobsy with the Cushy Schedule.

Dumbsy.

I do this sort of thing quite a lot. I have Time Management Displacement Perception Issues. It's a real affliction. Google it.

You might come right back here.

I like it so much, I'm tempted to change my post title to that very thing. Except I have attention deficit issues as well, and I might forget what my point was in the meantime.

Where was I? The yearbook, that's right. So, it actually got off to quite a nice start. I was cranking out pages on the software provided to me by the school picture people, I was right on schedule, and then, of course, a software update comes out.

At the perfect time, two weeks before D-Day. Awesome.

And it messed everything up. All my hard work, scrambled.

There is some humor in amongst the angst, and it came at the perfect time. The software developers decided that they were going to set up what they call a GoTo meeting with myself, my computer, and Vladimir in Russia. I was to be at my computer at 5:00 a.m., in order to have an hour to resolve the issue, I have so many, to accommodate the pesky time difference between the Western and Eastern Hemispheres, and still make it to my Cushy Schedule Jobsy by 7:30 a.m. At my computer, I was to be fully dressed and not wearing my Morning Hair.

Yes, it does sort of run in the family. The reason why I was to be fully dressed, etc., was because Vladimir in Russia was going to be conversing with me through the camera in my computer. I probably was supposed to stay up all night to learn to speak Russian, or least how to scream "JUST FIX IT!!!!" in Russian. And that's not even the best part.

He was going to take control of my computer remotely and fix the issue.

Is it me, or does that just sound creepy?

I freely admit that I am a horrid person, because all I could think about is this commercial and it scared me so.

In the end I opted out of the GoTo meeting because I'm a Chicken Butt. The yearbook problems did get ironed out in spite of all the unpleasantness and perhaps a tantrum or two, and I am happy to say that it is on its way to the printer, with less than 100 hours to spare.

I think I might be conquering my Time Management Displacement Perception Issues.

So, back to this.

Some of you rather liked this little set-up, and since I'll be on spring break from my Cushy Schedule Jobsy in about a week, I thought "How fun would it be to do a giveway?"

Never mind. Bad idea.

Ha, ha. I kill myself. I delight in torturing others.

Really though, who wants one? I pledge to give two of these away, I have no idea how I'm going to ship them, but I'll figure something out. And, I'm just making this up as I go, but how about if I throw in 30 or so magnetic menu magnets to get you going? I'll let you pick three colors for the magnets, you can e-mail your menu choices to me, and your menu grid can be brown, black or white. The only catch is, you have to be one of the two people who Random Integer Generator picks. Leave me a comment telling me what you are going to do for either spring break, or your next vacation. Or, what the heck, what you wish you were going to do.

If you leave a comment to enter, please make sure that either your e-mail is attached to your Google account profile, or you leave your e-mail address in your comment. It's a bummer when Random Integer Generator picks a winner I can't contact, and I have to pick someone else.

Good luck Peepity Peeps!

Oh yeah, [SQUIRREL!!!!] the deadline to enter is Friday, April 1st, at Noon in Russia. No lie.

If you didn't win, and you really want one of these vinyl menu planning grids, you can buy one for $8.50. I found someone who will make them for you. Find out how in this post.

  2. We are having our spring break right now, and Alexa has spent all of it on the couch with a fever, cold and horrible cough. Not fun. I attempt to use your menu planner that you have here on your blog, but I'm not as good as I'd like to be with it. I'd love to have a magnetic version! You definitely inspire me!:)

  3. My university currently is on spring break. I am not able to "participate" in my spring break though because I am finishing up my student teaching. 1 week left! Therefore, I am not going anywhere for spring break. I wish I could have gone somewhere warm though.

By the way, I love all of the classroom organization/management ideas you post. Can't wait to implement some of your ideas in my classroom next year! =]

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  5. Wow! I want you to be my time manager. All I can take care of is my housey and my jobsy.

Such a cute organizer thingy. Anyone would be lucky to have it. Too bad it's gonna be ME!

Really, you should have been OK with Vladimir taking over your computer...........NOT.

  6. We aren't going anywhere for spring break. I'm thinking I'll make my 5 teenagers clean out their cubbies in the laundry room. (You know, the ones for backpacks and jackets, but used for dirty socks and lunch sack experiments.)

I'd rather be scuba diving with my hubby somewhere in warm water.

PS I love your blog. You make me giggle because I can relate to your fun sense of humor.

  10. For spring break we are cleaning out my mom-in-law's attic/back yard, going to the Carl Bloch exhibit at BYU, and dreaming about pretty beaches (does that count???).

Okay I never ever enter these things, but since I am lusting after your awesomeness, and my menu needs some SERIOUS overhauling, yes, please, pick me, oh random integer picker! :)

  11. I just decided on Tuesday night that this would be our homeschooling "spring break". Monday & Tuesday we got a little behind on school, so I decided to call it a week, and take the rest of the week "off". So I'm just catching up on all the normal household stuff. I love your menu thing, by the way. It would look great on my fridge!! :) (michelle.pchef@gmail.com)

  16. For our next vacation I WISH we were going to Disneyland for 7 days and 6 nights. Instead, we'll be spending every weekend at swim meets with the kiddos. Aw, well, some of them are out of town so I guess that counts as a mini vacation, right?

  17. I have so been wanting do make a menu planner. Been working on it for about, oh, 2 years or so. So far, it's going no where.

As for vacation plans, we are planning a trip to the lower 48. (Yep, we live in Alaska, where it is STILL winter even though everyone I know is posting pictures of bare ground or grass.) We will spend two weeks there (a week for each of our extended families). Should be fun, although summer time maybe wasn't the best choice for going to Arizona. We should have ditched out on part of winter and gone in February . . .

  23. ME TOO!!! Is it a Creative Memories thing, cuz I VOLUNTEERED to do our yearbook this year too!
    We are using Lifetouch, which I'm guessing you are too, cuz we have the same due dates... and software issues, only mine didn't wipe out my book! {phew}
Did you find that using their software was MUCH harder than using our own SBC+!?! I did. I made a few pages in our software and imported them into the book. It was easier than trying to build a complicated page with their stuff.
    I wanna see your book!

Am I supposed to say something about my Spring Break plans, cuz everyone else is doing it, but I kinda skimmed through the last part of your post, cuz I was still stuck on the fact that you were stressing over your yearbook deadlines, like me!
Ok... I think I'm going to Washington DC with the kids/hubby, but he hasn't made any plans yet, so maybe I'm just staying her in Michigan... wishing I was some place warm with sand.
    Sigh...
    Thanks, Jill!

Over Spring Break, we're probably moving (sad face), but we should have enough time to make it to some fun family activities.
PS...my friend is a vinyl distributor, she packages her sheets of cut vinyl by sandwiching the vinyl between two pieces of cardboard and taping around the entire perimeter. I have safely received vinyl from her every time. I'm in Utah and she's in Hawaii.

  80. We decided to wait until April to take our vacation, we're going to spend a week at the Disney resort. Christopher, my 5 years old, is VERY excited, even though we go every year. You would think he'd get bored of it but ... no!

  81. I think I have the same issues with time, and I'm too lazy to look at the cool phrase you called it!

I would have freaked out if I had done all that crazy work only to have it scrambled, glad it all came together in the end for you. And with 100 hours to spare, you are literally amazing (do you watch Parks and Rec?)

Oh as for vacation, yeah right, what is that? For spring break we have no plans. Our closest thing to a vacation will be in June, we're going to Pittsburgh to watch the Phillies play back to back games against the Pirates. Go Phils!

  82. WISH I were going to London with two of my sis's to "attend" the royal wedding. They're going...I'm not! But I will drown my sorrows in a trip to the grocery store for some Ben & Jerrys instead! :) A suitable second choice, I say...almost!

    Love the menu!

  84. Just got back from a trip to Philly. Went to a conference and got to see the Amish (went on a buggy ride) and the Liberty Bell, etc. :) It was great!
I'd love to get back into the swing of menu planning and this would help tremendously! :)

  85. Our Twin daughters both married guys in the military who are being deployed to Afghanistan for a year. They are both coming back home to live with us during this time, as well as our 6 month old grandaughter. So.....we are fast and furiously trying to get our basement finished and will be sheetrocking all of spring break. I would so rather be in Hawaii or somewhere else warm and fun with my Sweetheart.
I Love Love Love your blog, Big Fan! Thanks for the fun giveaway! Here's hoping I win!

  86. I need need need this calendar (as I have no cricut or silhouette or anything else like it for that matter) and the day I have to do menu planning is the day I dread each and every week. This would make it so very much better! If you do every decide to sell them I would seriously pay money for this!

Our spring break was last week and we didn't do much of anything and it was great! My friend from Colorado came for a visit though so that was nice too! Our big vacation this year will around the 4th of July. We are going to Southern California to visit my brother (who I just connected with as he is my half brother and I didn't even really know him until a couple of months ago) and go to the beach and generally have a wonderful time.

Wow, I just go on and on and now a bunch of random people can read it! Maybe that will increase my chances of winning?! I know it won't but a girl can wish!

We are on spring break right now. My kids are hooked up to the boob tube because my 10 month old is sick and it's raining cats and dogs here in Washington. I wish we were vacationing somewhere (anywhere) warm!

  90. Sring break has come and gone and we are now waiting for the summer fun. The kids will be with grandma for the month of June.

Hopefully when we pick them up the snow will be gone!

You always seem to find time to get all your goals accomplished. It's just sometimes you have to tweak things a little!

  97. I'm so mad I missed your giveaway! I spent my spring break making trips to and from the NICU (you've probably already heard from Peanut Head and if not then shame on him!)

  98. Hi Jill! I just stumbled upon your blog on Pinterest and love your creativity. I can commiserate about doing the school yearbook - I taught 7th grade before I had kids and did the yearbook along with other clubs. Teaching is like two full time jobs, isn't it? I'm now a stay at home mom of two boys and working as a Disney Travel Agent for Hi Ho Vacations. Loving your ideas and your humor.

  99. My next vacation -- I'm going to New York to see Newsies on Broadway, which is like a dream come true seeing as how it's been my favorite movie for the past twelve years. I'm lucky enough to have this opportunity and to get to go and see it with my best friends, who are also crazed fans like myself. After that, it's off to California the month after. Vacations are amazing!
