Every year about this time, Peanut Head and I mix up some of this hot chocolate mix for all the cold wintry nights ahead.
My sister-in-law, Marcia, originally found this recipe in Sunset magazine and it has become a favorite of ours.
One thing that I love about this recipe, is that it fits perfectly into a quart size canning jar and it makes a cute and practical gift.
I jazzed up the lid a bit with some scrapbook paper, snowflakes, of course.
And then I added a snowflake sticker.
And finally a gift tag, which I digitally scrapbooked and then had print off as a 4x6 print to give me two tags.
I then adhered it to cardstock to make it a little sturdier.
Then cut it out, punched a hole through it, and tied it on with a pretty ribbon.
And Ta DA! Gift ready.
I love the jar gifts. I have cookies in a jar, soup in a jar...it's awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a REALLY cute gift idea...THANKS!!!
ReplyDeleteahhhh, very cute idea!
ReplyDeleteHey, if it drops below 70 here in Texas, we break out the sweaters and hot cocoa. Thanks so much for the super cute tags!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing the label and the recipe! I just may try this! And I'm in TX and yes, sometimes we do need some hot chocolate to remind us of what winter is like in other places!!!;)

Would this still work if I wanted each jar to have less servings (to save a little money). I was thinking about using 3/4 c of sugar, cocoa & pwd milk. Then just use more marshmallows to fill to the top. What do you think? I would like to make 12 of these, but am thinking 12 cups of cocoa would be very costly!!

Anonymous, Yes, I do think it would be fine to reduce the recipe and just use more marshmallows to fill up the excess space. Just be sure to cut back on the salt proportionately as well.
